Explore the diverse flora and fauna on the Downs from season to season through personal observations and photographs

At the same point that I had Roe Deer run across the track in front of me just three days ago I had a fox dash across this morning.

After yesterday’s frosty start to the New Year it was something much more uncommon on the common today. A pre-dawn snowstorm had dumped a good 2 cm of the fluffy white stuff over everything. The last time I can recall having snow that persisted more than an hour or so before melting was during the famed ‘Beast from the East’ in the first week of March, 2018. This made for some great scenic shots.

As well as the landscape photos I took a few of various snow-coated ‘berries’.
