Explore the diverse flora and fauna on the Downs from season to season through personal observations and photographs

It is becoming more difficult to find something new. I will turn my attention to the leaf mines that are becoming more prominent as leaves dry out and search for any aphids that produce new offspring during the autumn months.

That said, first new insect today was a Lauxaniid fly, possibly Tricholauxania praeusta?

I got some new photos of Apple Leaf Miner (Lyonetia clerkella) leaf mines on Wild Cherry (Prunus avium) leaves, and an added bonus as I turned over one leaf to find a Common Green Lacewing (Chrysoperla carnea) on the other side. The larval mine of another leaf miner moth, the Laburnum Leaf Miner (Leucoptera laburnella), was found on Laburnum (Laburnum anagyroides).

I found an oak sapling that was heavily infested with a white powdery mildew, probably Oak Mildew (Erysiphe alphitoides).

Yet another fungus appeared in the old sheep enclosure, possibly Fairy Inkcap (Coprinellus disseminates?).
