Butterfly numbers greatly reduced. Small Copper is now the dominant species. A few Brown Argus (Aricia agestis), Small White (Pieris rapae), Speckled Wood and Gatekeeper still present.
New insects added were Large Rose Sawfly (Arge pagana) and an unexpected passenger on my shorts after walking along the edge of the sheep enclosure, a Castor Bean Tick (Ixodes ricinus). During processing of images of a Common Wasp I discovered in one of them a tiny chalcid wasp in flight, which I believe to be Brachymeria tibialis.
On one patch of dogwood I came across galls of the Dogwood Rivet Midge (Craneiobia corni).
Another mushroom putting in an appearance is the tiny Marasmius rotula, known as the Collared Parachute or Pinwheel Mushroom.
